Leah Millis

Alumni, Journalism Photographer

Congratulations to Leah Millis (Class of 2002)! 25 years ago, Reuters, the Associated Press (AP) and Agence France-Presse (AFP) created a position for a single photographer to shoot from the floor during the State of the Union (SOTU) address. The chosen photographer’s photos are distributed to the rest of the news agencies. Each year, a different agency has an opportunity to send one of their photographers to the pool position. A few years ago, the pool was opened up to news outlets outside of the aforementioned agencies, expanding the reach and access to photographers across diverse agencies. We are so proud of Leah who, on Feb. 4, 2020, was the first woman in the 25-year history to have the SOTU floor pool position. You can see Leah's photos on her Twitter account.
