Dear Logan Community,
As you know, The Logan School is embarking on a search for its next Head of School. The Board of Trustees has tasked the two of us, as the Board Chair and the Chair of the newly formed Head of School Search Committee, to lead the process by which Logan will find its next exceptional leader. We are currently assembling our Search Committee and will provide an update on this group upon completion.
As mentioned in a recent letter to the community, The Logan School has engaged the services of Resource Group 175 (RG175) as its partner in facilitating this important leadership transition. RG175 is a leading independent school search firm that has conducted more than 100 national leadership searches over the last three years. Consultant Jerry Katz, an experienced search consultant and highly respected former head of school, will help guide Logan’s search process and recruit qualified candidates. We have been impressed by Jerry’s early insights and have found his philosophy a good fit with the values and culture of our school community.
While the final responsibility for appointing a next Head of School rests solely with the Board of Trustees, your input will be extremely important in helping the Search Committee to define criteria for the search and in providing feedback about finalist candidates.
The process will begin with Jerry Katz’s upcoming visit to our school on September 11-13. During this time, he will interview Shae Schneider and other members of the school’s current leadership team, meet with our founder, Patti McKinnell, and hold multiple open forums with faculty, staff, students, parents, and our broader community. Jerry’s objective during his visit will be to get to know our school well, in order to best represent it in a position statement that will be used to recruit prospective candidates. All community members will also be encouraged to participate in an online survey to share their perspectives about the uniqueness of our school, opportunities and challenges for its future, and attributes our next Head of School should possess. You will receive a link for accessing the survey on September 12.

Our goal is to announce the new Head’s appointment in February 2023. However, it is important to note that our new Head will not assume responsibility at Logan until July 1, 2023 and that Shae Schneider will continue to serve as our Interim Head through the entire 2022-23 academic year.
