Board of Trustees Election Invitation

Dear Logan Community Members,

With the start of the new year comes the start of The Logan School’s 2023 Board of Trustees election cycle. The Board is charged with promoting and protecting Logan’s mission, ensuring its long-term viability, and overseeing the performance of its Head of School. In short, the Board’s governance responsibilities are strategic in nature rather than operational. Those parents, faculty members, and community members who serve on the Board have a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the long-term success of Logan. Trustees are elected to serve a three-year term, and frequently seek re-election to serve a second three-year term.

This year, we anticipate that Logan’s Board has the following openings to serve from 2023-26:

• One (1) Faculty Trustee 
• Up to Three (3) Parent Trustee 
• Up to Two (2) Community Trustees 

The Trusteeship Committee is seeking candidates with diverse professional and personal backgrounds who have a passion for Logan and are willing to take on the commitment and responsibility of Board service. Prior service on a Logan Board committee or subcommittee is strongly preferred. All candidates, including current Board members seeking another term, must apply and interview with the Trusteeship Committee. We are committed to fostering a culture of inclusion and an environment representing many aspects of diversity - within Logan and this committee. We encourage individuals of many identities, backgrounds, and experiences to apply!

If you’re interested, here’s the timeline:

• Feb. 1 (8:45 a.m.-9:45am, via Zoom): Trusteeship Coffee. Please bring a cup of coffee and Zoom in to learn more about board service by chatting with Trusteeship Committee members.
• Feb. 17: Applications are due by 3 pm. Applications can be found by clicking
  Parent/Faculty Application, Community Application, and Renewal Application.  
• March 6, 7, 8 (after 6:00 p.m., via Zoom): 30 minute interviews of qualified candidates.
• March 21: Trusteeship Committee recommends its slate of nominees to the Board of Trustees.
• March 22: If approved, the Board-nominated slate is announced to the community.
• March 23-31: Logan members wishing to self-nominate may submit applications.
• April 17: Ballots setting forth Board-nominated slate and any self-nominated candidates delivered to membership.
• April 17-26: Membership voting. By 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26^th, all members may vote to ratify/elect Board-nominated slate or self-nominated candidates.
• April 28: New Trustees are announced.
