The Logan Summer Institute
Enter the World of Creative Learning.
From June 12-17, 2017, explore Creative Learning by becoming a student again. In this
multi-layered professional development program, adult participants will create an individual unit of study on a topic of their choosing. With the support of peers and mentors, they will enrich their learning and solidify understanding through reflection, research and fabrication in our Logan Works Project Labs. This week-long course will culminate in an evening “EXPO” where participants share their work, designs and understanding alongside peers and invited community. Participants will take back their experience back to their own classrooms with the ongoing support and encouragement of their Logan Summer Institute cohort.
What is The Logan Summer Institute?
The Logan Summer Institute will break down the fundamental elements of Creative Learning so educators can implement them in their own classrooms. Participants become inquirers, selecting an individual unit for inquiry and rediscover the joys -- and challenges -- of learning. Each day is prefaced with group discussion of educational concepts and concludes with reflection of the day’s learning. By examining the process concurrently with the practice of independent inquiry, educators will be able to understand and apply the elements more adeptly.
The Logan Summer Institute is professional development at its edge, demanding participants to go all in on their craft. Mentors will work with participants to set or check goals and ask questions and support participants in executing their designs in our project labs space, LoganWorks. There are no worksheets here; development is personal and relevant. Participants are expected to come ready to challenge themselves to learn both about education and about their area of interest.
Application and Selection Process

A print friendly course description is available here.
The cost for the Logan Summer Institute is $800, which covers the five-day Institute, field experience, and EXPO reception and event. Participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the course that certifies 40 hours of professional development.
